About

Hi, I’m Ivery DeVore, and welcome to Alabaster Servant! Here, we take a real and relatable look at the Bible—finding God’s purpose in our pain and His faithfulness in life’s hardest seasons. My prayer is that this space becomes a community where we can share testimonies, pray together, and walk side by side in Christ, one step at a time.

My mission is to offer a realistic, relatable perspective of the Bible—highlighting even the “crazy, wild” situations we read about in Scripture—and connect them to our own lives. In those stories, we see God’s unshakable loyalty and faithfulness.

I believe God calls us into community—a place to share our testimonies, pray together, hold each other accountable, and walk alongside one another. Whether that community is in person at your local church, online in a group like this, or somewhere in between, you are welcome here.

About Me

I grew up on the south side of Atlanta, Georgia, in a family deeply rooted in both Baptist and Pentecostal traditions. With bishops, pastors, and church mothers all around me, church was part of my life—but not always in a healthy way.

I witnessed mistreatment of my parents, misuse of resources, and hypocrisy that made me question the value of following Christ. I decided to do life my way. As a young girl, I struggled with misplaced identity, unhealthy relationships, and a deep hunger for love and acceptance.

By my late teens, I was calling myself a Christian because I went to church, but my heart was far from God. Depression set in, and I sought comfort in weed, adult content, and unhealthy friendships. After leaving home at 18, I dove into tarot readings, crystals, and even considered building altars for the dead.

The Turning Point

In the midst of battling suicidal thoughts and self-harm, God began to work quietly on my heart through my high school sweetheart—now my husband—who challenged me to stop running from hard conversations. Still, I was far from Him, smoking heavily, and spiritually lost.

At 20, I became pregnant, but even in that season, depression lingered. Two years later, I was still fighting to stay alive. Then came a day that changed everything:
• My son was in a 6-car accident.
• My parents’ car malfunctioned at a trucking rest stop.
• My fiancé was under heavy mental attack.

All of these happened on the same day—and in every single situation, God protected us. That night at a prayer meeting, I experienced deep deliverance. Tears poured down, and I didn’t even know why, but I knew God was wooing me back.

From that day forward, I have been souled out for Jesus—not perfect, but transformed and walking this journey one step at a time.

Why “Alabaster Servant”?

The name comes from the story of the woman who poured her expensive perfume on Jesus’s feet, weeping, and wiping them with her hair (Luke 7:39-48). Her act was one of complete surrender and costly love—just like what Jesus has done for us.

We’re called to pour out our lives at His feet because He paid the highest price for our sins. In Him, we have a new identity. We are forgiven, restored, and invited to seek Him first (Matthew 6:33)

My Prayer for You

I pray this blog will encourage you to:
•See God’s hand in the middle of your storms.
•Be transformed by His everlasting love.
•Walk boldly in your identity in Christ.

Here, we take the Bible inch by inch—discovering how even the hardest parts of our stories can reveal the unshakable faithfulness of God.
